ZIONS TINY OASIS

A LUXURY TINY HOUSE VILLAGE

We built a tiny house village for those who love the feeling of being transported into magical worlds.   Since we're located just five minutes to the border of  Zion National Park and we grew up in religious house holds where daily scripture study was encouraged -  we thought to use bible stories as our theme.  Zion is what we aspire to -  to become a place and people where The Gods dwell. And so, the project began with our very first build - The Ark tiny house.

Our village is also inspired by my love for making and watching movies.   I will always remember the first time I watched the film - A Little Princess.  I was impressed by the way a humble, broken down dusty attic could be transformed into a beautiful place by the touch of the masters hand.  Before the films climax, Sarah and her friend awake up in what seems to look like an Indian style royal palace.  I want to recreate that feeling in every guest when they walk into our units.  The childlike joy and magical way of transporting people into new worlds is priceless.

Furthermore, we're so blessed to have this little slice of heaven and are happy to share such beautiful, uninterrupted landscape with all those who stay with us.  Our goal and wish for all who visit is that they can feel of the peace, love and enjoy the natural beauty on our property offers.  We hope help visitors slow down, take in the majestic views and faciliate deeper bond with those they bring on their journey.  That our space can be a safe haven, a sacred space, where prayer and drawing closee to God is easily accessible.

THE ARK TINY HOUSE

The Process

We began with the idea of living off grid and building our very own tiny house.  I wanted a custom design, one where I could have all the comforts of home in a tiny space. The bay window was a must.  I also needed a back room office. A bathtub and upstairs trap window exit. I designed this unit and my husband and I built it together. We tried to hire help during the initial stages but it became quickly apparent that most older men in Utah (especially builders) do not like taking orders from younger hispanic females.   It took my husband and I two years to complete this build.  We now own 5 Tiny homes and this is still my favorite unit because of the love we put into it.

More details...

The Ark is a one of a kind tiny house.  It's 352 square feet including the upstairs loft. The unit fits three bed with a max sleeping capacity of eight. However, we recommend   4 adults only, or two adults and 4 children for maximum comfort.  This tiny house has a back door exit that leads to the outdoor hot tub. It also has an emergency trap door exit upstairs for star grazing from the bed.  It comes equipped with flush toilet, jetted tub, wifi, gas stove, heating  and air condition + a tankless water heater. The out door amenities include patio seating area, bbq grill, fire pit and dinning table.

Interior Design

This unit was purchased from a girl in Texas.  She originally bought it at an action by Oklahoma Academy - a tech school for young students who took on the challenge of building something beautiful and functional.  We fell in love with this Tudor design. The inside had this lovely gold theme so I decided to really incorporate that into the overall theme.  I felt this unit was famine in nature and a doctor sold me a olive green couch for 50 dollars so I looked at color that looked well with green and though I felt going pink was a big risk its become a favorite.  This tiny house is one of our highest booked units.  Mother Eve is very popular - especially for those celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, honeymoons, Mother's Day and Valentines season.

Exterior Design

When we were first shopping for more tiny houses this unit was not our favorite due to its boxy style and plain look. However I loved how the inside felt so large and the many tall windows made it feel open and light.  It took some convincing to get Sam to agree on purchasing this unit, but once we added the gazebo it gave the unit some dimention.  The color scheme also helps give it more character.  Family members kept insisting we pain the unit because it would stick out like a sore thumb in the desert - since it was so white but I didn't mind the color and it would have been more unnecessary work so we kept the color and named the unit after the white angel peaks of west Zion.

I love unique designs and when I found this for sale on line I was hooked.  It was among the most unique units I had seen among thousands.  As soon as I saw it I knew he was to be called our King Solomon!  This unit was originally built by Tiny Heirloom.  They used real copper and an aged wood design.  It was originally built for a whisky company for road shows and promoting their product, but the owners son soon realized just how hard it was to set up and take down and travel with such a large unit on the road so they gave up the endeavor and sold it to us.  There were many issues with the original build so we modified it significantly.  We had many guests requesting a down stairs bed so form their RV style pop out display closets we created hallways and added two down stairs bedrooms.  Solomon is old world themed and has magic wardobes that make these secret chambers come to life.

Logo Concept -Initial Stages

AP- animation

The concept for the business logo stems from a memory of my childhood neighbor. Gina used to call me "Lily Pad".  Because my first tiny house design resembled a trolly, I wanted the logo to have a mixture of a flower and a vintage looking caboose. Though the business name eventually changed, the essence of the logo was a childhood memory.  I wanted a logo that was pleasant to the eyes yet represented something posh and classy in the desert. I hired a friend, Alejandro Martinez, who was studying graphic design, to create the logo. Working together, we came up with this beautiful graphic.  I then experimented with music and motion to bring it to life.

I've always felt that neon signs to are ugly and unnatural.  It has been interesting to see how guests have managed to find us despite our lack of a signage and our remote location.  I wanted the business to remain a hidden gem, without our guests getting lost.  The gate serves that purpose well, and also peeks the interest of  passing tourists. Our gate matches our branding, and stays true to our colors.  The intention was having something elegant and eye catching that still blends in with the landscape. The logo is the focal point, with a faint solar light that glows at night to help our guests find their way.
