Engagement Ring -Initial stages

Finished Product

Humans are like plants, full of change; organic and always evolving.  The same can be said about a wedding ring meant to be worn  for a life time.  I hated the idea of wearing the same ring for the rest of my life.  I've also never been a fan of expensive diamond rings. Healing stones have always fascinated me with their vibrant colors and beautiful veins and imperfections.   I also have  love the way wood and gold compliment each other.  I thought it would be neat to design a ring that had a rock that could be interchangeable.  I specifically wanted to be able to change the color of the stone depending on the season, or what I was wearing.  After many sketches and digital renderings, we managed to design the perfect ring for me.  Each symbol on the ring has a purpose and meaning.  I hired Tresor Jewelers of Salt Lake City  to help with the undertaking.  It took two years to complete because it was such a detailed and unique ring.    The casting process was  difficult too, since my ring was not ready on time for the wedding.  As an apology for the delay, they casted a second ring in white gold.  Both rings are gorgeous, but my favorite is still the original gold design.  I think it would be fun to design and sell interchangeable jewelry like this some day in the future.

Wedding Dress -Initial stages

Finished Product

One of my favorite things is cosplay. Since early childhood, I anxiously awaited Halloween each year to dress up as my favorite cartoon or film character.  I didn't realize there was a name for it until recently.  For this reason my wedding would also be a day in which I would get to play dress up.  I think thought it ridiculous to pay thousands of dollars for a designer dress white dress you only get to wear once in a lifetime.  So, I wanted a dress that I could wear for  Halloween or a masquerade ball for  years to come.  My inspiration for this design was Queen Elizabeth and medieval times.   I found each piece of fabric, stone, and lace at the fashion district in LA.  I hired one of  Salt Lake City's best opera costume designers to help make my idea a reality.  We worked together as I gathered all the materials attended all my fittings throughout the months to create this beautiful fun design.  To my surprise,  she usually declines wedding dress request, but due to how unique mine was, it soon became one of  her favorite wedding dresses she's ever worked on.

Maids & Groomsmen

The wedding took place on October 31st.  Not because we wanted to wed on All Hollows Eve, but because I knew my bride and groomsmen would not be comfortable dressing up in time period clothing on any other day of the year.  Many of my guests would probably feel the same way.  A masquerade wedding on Halloween was the perfect excuse for everyone to come dressed up for the occasion.   The venue also matched the theme - it took place at the Salt Lake City State Capitol.   For those who were party poopers and didn't dress up, we provided masks on each table.

Invitations

I searched far and wide for the perfect invitations for the occasion.   I recycled the concept from my Quinceñera invites years ago, but those were much simpler in style.   I I worked for several days to learn basic graphic design using photoshop - it was my first time dabbling with the program.  The scrolls were a special order from India. Friends and family helped hand deliver most them, depending on their region and location.  Mailing each one would have been expensive, so I only mailed a handful.  In the end, we had over 400 guests from all over the US and Mexico.  It was a fun concept, but unfortunately from taking so much upon my own hands - I was so stressed out from all the planning, and decor building that I almost had a panic attack that day.  I wish I would have enjoyed it to the fullest but sadly due to a water leak in my apartment we were also evicted last minute and on top of everything I was dealing with I also had to be fully  moved out of my apartment by the next day!  At our 10 year mark, when we renew our vows, we will be sure to recreate the event on our property.  Maybe next time I will hire an event planner so we can finally enjoy it to the fullest!

A Business Concept

Logo Concept -Initial Stages

The concept for the business logo stems from a memory of my childhood neighbor. Gina used to call me "Lily Pad".  Because my first tiny house design resembled a trolly, I wanted the logo to have a mixture of a flower and a vintage looking caboose. Though the business name eventually changed, the essence of the logo was a childhood memory.  I wanted a logo that was pleasant to the eyes yet represented something posh and classy in the desert. I hired a friend, Alejandro Martinez, who was studying graphic design, to create the logo. Working together, we came up with this beautiful graphic using Adobe Indesign.  I then experimented with music and motion graphics using Adobe Prremier to bring it to life.

Entrance Gate -Initial stages

Finished Product

I've always felt that neon signs to are kinda ugly and unnatural.  It has been interesting to see how guests have managed to find our property despite our lack of a signage and remote location.  I wanted the business to remain a hidden gem, without our guests getting lost.  The gate serves that purpose well. It peeks the interest of  passing tourists while providing privacy to our guests.  Our gate matches our branding, and stays true to our colors.  The intention was to have something elegant and catchy that still blends in with the landscape. The logo is the focal point to the gate with a faint solar light that glows at night to help our guests find their way.  Our gated tiny house village helps guest feel safe while they also enjoy exclusivity.
